Here is a sampling of bowls I turned in my workshop. I started turning to make columns for some of my clocks. Then, while cutting up some firewood, I thought, "What the heck? Let's try a bowl." Here is the result.
I turn woods I can cut off my property or find locally: ash, oak, cherry, poplar, maple. I like to turn when the wood is wet. Then as it dries, the wood distorts and takes on a shape of its own. I don't plan what the final shape of the bowl will be. I like to let that happen as part of the process. Recently I've started to experiment with color to add some flair.
